When feeling disturbed, you have an opportunity. Most of us try to escape the feeling but that is not our only choice. However, there is a reason why we want to avoid our feelings. They hurt. First, we feel disturbances emotionally. But, that is not all. As well, we feel it in our body. Emotional disturbances cause reactions in our physical body. Pain is communicating to us. Physical discomfort can be a warning or an indication that something needs to change. Then, when we find ways to avoid the emotion, repressing it or focusing on something else to distract us, we are missing an opportunity to resolve the conflict.
When feeling disturbed
When we feel disturbed we are in conflict. Most people fail to realise that fact. We suffer a conflict between what we expect and reality. For example, we expect to be safe when suddenly we are not, or we expect respect, when someone is disrespectful. Probably, there are thousands of examples.
Sometimes, you feel disturbed by something you see, hear or read about. Then, it bothers you, staying present in your mind. Perhaps, you push it away, but it continues to hang around, popping into your mind now and then. I call this a nudge. You are being nudged to address the issue.
Unfortunately, there is a cost to ignoring nudges. Consistently, your body is paying a price. Obviously, you are wise if you gather the courage to address the source of this conflict you are continually avoiding.

I have written a guest blog on this topic for the website of my colleague, Lisbeth Lysdale. Lisbeth resides in Denmark and is also practitioner of the Micheal Newton Institute.
Although, Lysbeth has translated the bog into Danish, the original English script follows below once you hit the link.
