“I want to die” is what my guest, Mary, told me when she and I were at our favourite coffee shop. For many years, Mary lived not far from Maleny, the main hinterland town where I live. This town is in the highlands of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, and is a beautiful area to settle. We have green fields, some rainforest, attractive mountains, a subtropical climate and no traffic lights.

Many years ago, I did a regression for Mary and, later, we became friends and members of two non-profit organisations.

During the podcast, you will discover that Mary originally came from New Zealand to Australia, eventually settling in Canberra where she met her husband, Alan. In Canberra, she met and made many friends including a couple, Ron and his wife, Noni. Funnily, I knew Noni from living in Sydney in the 1970’s. Like Mary, she met her husband in Canberra. Not long after moving from Brisbane to Maleny, my husband and I independently met and made friends with Mary and Alan. Only later, we discovered this mutual connection with the couple in Canberra. 

A year before this interview with Mary, her husband died. Soon after, Mary started resigning from many non-profit organisations where she volunteered. Mary is an accountant and a very valued volunteer in the community. Consequently, I ask her what is going on. Obviously, newly widowed people tend increase their volunteer work, not stop it. 

I want to die

Even though she was still healthy, she explained that she was getting ready to leave the planet. Of course, I was shocked as were many of her friends. However, I thought this is quite unusual. Consequently, I asked her if she would do a podcast and explain why.

In this podcast, Mary talks about her life, her purpose and why she is ready to leave. This is the first of three podcasts I did with Mary and which I will post consecutively. The first two were recorded in June, 2025 and the third in 2026 after she had passed.
